We are a busy shop
Not to bury the lede: we’re busy, but not just with repairs: we have been stocking our retail area with phono preamps, cables, even more cartridges and needles, mic stands, cases and more!
I took a quick moment before the doors opened today to look at our work-in-progress queue and just say wow. It is as full as it can be. I am not sure what flood gates opened up, but it’s been getting real over here over the last several months. (Actually, I do kinda know why: we signed on recently with Moog and inMusic.) And lest that sound like a complaint; it ain’t. We’re glad to have work to do. But the name of the game here has always been to provide the quickest turnaround times in NYC, and it is always a challenge to get the repairs up on the bench in the most timely way. We’ve been managing, though, and for good reason: most of our clientele are professional DJs and musicians who rely on their gear for work, and rentals are expensive.
Administratively, it’s always a game of shaving off any unnecessary tasks to free up more time for repairs—and somehow we’ve been able to do it. Our regular queue is still at 4-5 weeks (with express available, of course), but I think I may have missed more than a few emails in the back office. If that applies to you, I apologize. But I promise any email missed was likely due to a repair that got finished ahead of schedule. Hopefully that applies to you as well.
Anyway, thanks for your patience, as always. And oh yea, please come by and either, 1. buy some stuff or 2. tell us what kind of stuff you need. We don’t want to waste time and money selling the rando crap you can get on amazon. No, we want to be your go-to for all the last minute, need-to-have-it gear. Right now we’ve got mic stands, patch cords, cartridges and styli (as always), RCA cables, mic cables, and cases. Basically, the kind of stuff that even amazon prime is too slow for. And last thought on the cartridges and styli: as always, the turntable community gets a little extra TLC here at the shop: we keep our Ortofon Concorde II line stocked ALWAYS. Just found out 1 hour before the gig that your needles are trash? You’re bartending tonight and your manager booked a DJ who wasn’t aware that turntables need needles? Come by.
